food network motivation

A few days ago I was watching the food network and Giada was cooking. Since Cassidy was recently complaining about our lack of vegetables, I decided to try a few of her recipes. I made Garbanzo Bean and Zucchini Salad and Chicken and Arugula Pita Pockets. I had such a great time cooking! Squeezing and zesting fresh lemons, making arugula pesto, chopping zucchini had never felt so good. Watching someone else make it first also helped. We only have 3 people living in our home and cooking has become a challenge. I still would not want to make something like this every night but it's fun for a change.

A friend took some pictures of Alex. They reminded me of a younger Alex who loved a buzz haircut every summer. He has always had some beautiful blue eyes. New do

For some reason I just can't stay with the same hair for too long. Last week without any prior thought I went to color my hair and decided to cut it. There are small moments of regret, mainly because it won't fit into a ponytail. It's different and fast and I like it.

Best things on a cold morning

On chilly mornings when I wake up early and run outside, these are my favorite ways to get warm.

1. A warm body in my bed to snuggle with

2. A hot shower

3. Hot chocolate made in my cocomotion

4. warm grape-nuts (my family would disagree)

5. Oatmeal that you cook on the stove (I love the sound it makes when it boils)

Where did the summer go?

The summer is quickly winding down. I spent a lot of time with these ladies from my tennis team. We made it to the finals in the district championships. A lot more fun than housework!



The first month of summer was spent preparing for (and recovering from) Lindsay's wedding. The weather was perfect and she was beautiful.

Latest favorite

At one of Lindsay's wedding showers, Kelby's Mom gave her one of these amazing Hobo bags. We all oooohed and aaaahed about how cute and practical it was. I told her I was going to get one for my birthday. Today Lindsay surprised both Cassidy and I with one. We all have a different color and love, love, love them. Thanks Linds we love, love, love you too.

I had a great Mother's Day. I did the least amount of work possible. My children and husband were sweet. It was nice just to be together.
