Summer Vacation

Our nephew Collin came to visit from California.  Boo still doesn't like the water. He would rather sit on the lounge chairs. Erica has been stopping by to swim with her kids and it has been fun to spend more time with her.

A few of my favorite things

Flowers are some of my favorite things about summer. Here are a few that are blooming in my yard right now. Some flowers are full of sentimental value. I can't see a hollyhock without thinking of my Grandma Doris, or a red geranium without remembering my Grandpa Allen's greenhouse full of them.

Boo the Destroyer

I think that this is the third shower poof that Boo has destroyed. We don't buy them anymore.

Poor Kelly! How does she keep that smile on her face? There are worse things he could be chewing up, furniture and shoes come to mind. Boo and I are taking the obedience 1 class. He has no problem with any of the commands but he whines and barks whenever the teacher is trying to talk. There is another dog named Bebe who barks and bites her owner so at least he is not the worst dog in the class. After class I said to Bebe's owner "So you have a barker too?" She said that our puppy's are so young that it is like taking a preschooler to second grade. That made me feel better.

Fourth of July

It was great to have everyone over for the Fourth of July. If I counted right, we had 50 people drop by at different times. What's that line, "If you build it they will come"? Derek says next year he is going to have to buy more of those machine gun fireworks. At Eleven p.m. after things were quiet, I got into the pool by myself, floated on my back and looked at the stars. Living the dream as Ryan would say.

Fat Lip

Did you know that my husband and all of my kids can roll their tongues and I can't. Well, now my husband and all of my kids can swim underwater from one end of the pool to the other without taking a breath and I can't. The tongue thing is genetic and there is really nothing I can do about it. The underwater swimming however I might be able to master. I was practicing the other night and after several tries I could still only make it maybe two thirds of the way. I decided to give it one more try. I started at the deep end and pushed off the side with my feet. I kept my arms pinned to my sides and used the dolphin kick to glide through the water. Next thing I know "Bam!" I smack my face on the bottom of the pool. I floated to the surface, let out a howl, and looked for  blood in the pool. Fortunately there was only a small amount coming from my bottom lip. I look around to find my husband and Cassidy trying not to laugh. Then came the infamous question, "Didn't you have your eyes open?" I guess that you learn something new every day.

I couldn't resist taking this picture of Cassidy having a nap on the kitchen floor. Boo is six months old now and weighs 40 pounds. 

Vegas Track Day

Las Vegas Outer Track Day May 3rd and 4th.  My brother Aaron and I went down to run a two day Porsche Club track event in conjunction with the PCA races.  We had a great time and it was nice to run a new track.  The track is definitely tighter with more turns than the Miller Track.  Started out the first day with track times in the 2:12s.  Starting pushing really hard the second day and had my best lap of 2:06.  I had just done my best lap and was pushing hard again when I spun on course in the last turn!  First time I have spun the car.  Two laps latter at the end of the straight I went in a little to hot and ran out of track and spun again all the way across the track.  Definitely an interesting sensation!  I was placed in "time out" for awhile to think about what I did wrong.  ;)
